Dear LASC friend and supporter;

Both Latin America and Ireland are going through a period of extraordinary and dramatic change. In Latin America after ten years of consistent reforms pushed from below by the social movements, the continent has reached unprecedented levels of independence, integration and assertiveness. In Ireland, on the other hand, the economic crisis and the IMF EU intervention have brought back home the message of global justice. LASC, as an organisation committed to bridge both worlds through campaigning for a just society, cannot remain indifferent to these challenges.

We need, as an organisation, to be up to these challenging context and we really feel there is a need to think together a strategic direction for our organisation for the next years. This is why we are inviting all to take part in our next Think In Day, which will take place on Saturday May 28th, from 11:00 to 17:00 in the Pearse Centre (27 Pearse Street, Dublin 2).

We need the input of our membership to give LASC a strong mandate from its members that can meet the increasing demands of our solidarity work.

The day will be split in four main parts:

• Introductory Session: three provocations –Ireland, Latin America and LASC work in theory and practice.
• Discussion Groups –how do you envision LASC’s solidarity work in 10 years time?
• Discussion Groups –what’s your ideal of a solidarity organisation? Does it resemble to LASC? What could I do to make it resemble more this ideal solidarity organisation? What spaces and opportunities for involvement could LASC create?
• Remarks and conclusion

We will require those interested to take part in the activity, to register before hand, sending us their name, as well as a brief line explaining their interest and expertise in relation to our work.
