For 17 months, eight agrarian leaders, organisers of Astracatol, a peasant union in the central department of Tolima in Colombia, have been subject of arbitrary imprisonment and unspeakable abuse. All for their commitment to the right to land of poor peasants and their opposition to a hydroelectrical project in the region which would affect their lands.
