16 NOVEMBER 2002 - SCHOOL OF THE AMERICAS VIGIL/ PROTEST

The School of the Americas is a Terrorist Training Camp in Georgia, USA. Since 1946 the SOA has trained over 60,000 Latin American soldiers in counter-insurgency techniques, sniper training, commando and psychological warfare, military intelligence and interrogation tactics. These graduates have consistently used their skills to wage war against their own people.

On the 16th of November 2002 more than 10,000 Americans will engage in an act of mass civil disobedience and trespass on the School, risking arrest and imprisonment in defence of justice and against war and terror. In solidarity with this brave action and with the victims of SOA graduates in Latin America, LASC and Dublin Catholic Worker are organising a vigil outside the US Embassy.

Speakers include: Brendan Butler, Ciaron O'Reilly (Dublin Catholic Worker) Gearoid O'Loinsigh (recently returned from human rights work in Columbia).
